Recently, Doug had the opportunity to speak at a Rowan-Salisbury PTA Council Luncheon. He shared with the members some tips on creating a successful PTA year. Here we thought we would share the tips with everyone!
As the school year starts to wind down, and PTA and PTO groups began to change officers, many began to look ahead to next year. It is not too early to set the stage for success. The most successful parent groups we work with have three things in common:
1. They set goals and share those goals with everyone involved.
2. They use a calendar and plan their year with as much detail as possible.
3. They garner tremendous support from the Administration and Staff.
These three aspects are accomplished more easily with earlier planning. The early planning can also be essential in recruiting volunteers for programs and events and involving more families in the school. So again it’s not too early to start planning for the upcoming school year!
One more thing, as this school year does wind down, remember to recognize and thank those that volunteered and supported your parent group throughout the year. A showing of appreciation and a “Thank You” can mean so much.
As always, if there is anything we at Fun Services can do to help with your planning, let us know!
